Tamaki Regeneration Company (TRC) engaged RCP to oversee multiple community housing projects as part of its community housing portfolio.

TRC is a Crown entity, jointly owned by the Government and Auckland Council. Its purpose is to spearhead urban regeneration in Tāmaki, East Auckland, and empower its residents – particularly Māori and Pasifika – in crucial areas such as housing, placemaking, and social and economic wellbeing.

TRC invited RCP to provide master planning advice for a vacant site to create a new concept design that was both commercially feasible and delivered on the required social outcomes. Working as the lead development advisor, RCP successfully produced a scheme that received a nod from the TRC Board. Design is underway. Since, then RCP has been engaged to repeat the exercise for a further four sites: two have received Board approval and are in the design phase, and the remaining two are in the master planning phase.

Having successfully unlocked these assets, RCP has been engaged as the lead project manager. It is currently advising and delivering five strategic land holdings, which will deliver a combined yield of over 530 homes.

RCP is helping to successfully deliver these projects through an active partnership with iwi (Māori) and the local community, and by ensuring that Māori values are upheld in the process. These values are reflected as ‘business as usual’ and are not just ‘tick box’ exercises to get deliverables over the line. RCP adopts a ‘listen and understand first’ approach in its engagement work.
